The Diana Looney Moore Lease is part of the New Diana Field, located in southeastern Upshur County, Texas. It produces from a 10-20 foot interval in the Woodbine formation, a prolific, sandy and permeable section approximately 50 feet thick in this field. Porosity of the well rounded sand particles is 20-25 percent, indicative of quality producing zones in the area. It is part of the many oil fields that make up the fabled East Texas area first produced by H.L. Hunt in the 1930’s. New Diana was discovered as a step-out oil field and developed in the ’60’s and refurbished during the ’90’s. The New Diana wells have yielded some ten million barrels of oil to date. It is estimated that 45 – 60% of the oil in place has been recovered from East Texas fields.
